Relays are of fundamental importance in the industry, especially in those processes that require equipment to be controlled from a remote location. To interrupt AC power, electrical relays are the most suitable tool to achieve the goal.

Relays have a wide range of applications in any type of automated process, such as packaging, assembly and dispersing mechanisms.

What is a timing relay?

Timing relay is a control device that uses electromagnetic principles to realize delay control.

Using the knob built into the timer itself, we can adjust the time. Preset times can range from milliseconds to hours, or even days. However, in industrial control systems it is usually measured in seconds and minutes. They allow us to control when processes are activated or deactivated.

A timed relaymakes a delayed connection by activating its contacts when the set time of the timed relay has elapsed after the relay has been activated.

A timed relay with an off-delay causes the timed contact to deactivate after a selected time has elapsed after the timed relay coil is deactivated. These relays usually have a timed relay power supply and a contact that controls the timed activation.

Principle of time relay

Timing relay is a time relay whose contacts will change after a period of time (set time) after receiving the activation signal of the relay's detection element.

When the relay is energized or de-energized, the timer counts from zero to the current time. This is called accumulation time. Once the accumulated time equals the preset time, the timer contacts change state.
